Description: A complete Posie or Posy finger ring, with plain band and interior Roman script ' inscription, dating to the mid post-medieval period (c. AD1600-1700).
The ring is 'D' shaped in section with a plain convex outer band. Around the inner band is inscribed the legend: 'In the my Choyce I doe rejoyce' (In thee my choice I do rejoice) in italic lettering, prefixed by the letter 'H'.
Discussion: The inscription is listed in Evans (1931, 60) with the correct spelling of 'thee', and a number of similar plain gold band rings with the inscription are held in the British Museum…
