There are two sound holes, one larger, on either side of the upper hemisphere where the remnants of a now lost integral suspension loop would have been situated. The frame has bevelled outer edges and a cast chape with a single, partially retained pin, with a transverse break resulting in the loss of the end of the pin and chape. The plate of the chape has an abraded stamped maker's mark which reads VIIVI. The metal is dark green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
