A complete cast lead probable palm guard from the Post-Medieval period dating to c.AD 1500-1800. Description: The object is tear drop shape in plan with a convex face and a flat face. The object has a slight flange/ledge halfway along the convex side towards the point. The flatter side is mostly level save for slight dip in th emiddl but displays a number of marks, probably from use. These include cirucalr and linear scars. Description: The thimble survives to its full height and is formed from a decorative sheet forming the body and small soldered on crown. A deep drawn tall copper-alloy thimble probably dating to the 16-17th centuries. The sides are covered with regularly spaced round indentations, except for around the rim which has three concentric incised lines, which are bisected on one side by a scratched heart. The rim itself is thin and straight with no thickening. The top is convex and also covered in round indentations with a subtle right spinning spiral and no bare areas.
