Contemporary copy of a Post Medieval farthing of Charles II dating to the period AD 1672 to 1679, Spink 3394. The coin appears to be in a lead alloy mix but is not a tin farthing as it lacks the neat square plug and also has the date on the reverse under Britannia rather than on the edge like the tin farthings. The raised border on both faces, around the design, irregularity of the letters, incorrect die axis measurement and a possible date of 1676 when farthings were not struck all also suggests it is a copy.

A modified and extremely corroded post-medieval copper-alloy farthing of Charles II (AD 1660-1685), dating between 1672 and 1679, London mint, Spink 3394 The farthing has been bent in two places giving it a characteristic S0-shaped profile, coins modified in this way are often referred to as 'love tokens' but may be more generic good luck charms. This modification is usually seen on silver coins so the use of a farthing is unusual.
