Post Medieval silver button, originally spherical or globular but now torn and squashed. The button has a seam around the centre where the two hemispheres were joined. It has partially torn along this seam with a section missing from the outer hemisphere. There is no evidence of decoration or a central pimple ont eh outer hemisphere although due to the battered condition this is not certain. There is a circuklar hole in the cnetre of the lower hemisphere where the seprarate loop would ahve been atatched. there is a possible makers mark to one side of this hole but this is now illegile…

Post Medieval silver circular button. The button is plain on the front and the back has a central scar where the soldered on loop has been lost. Below the loop are the incised initials RC, presumably the owner, around the scar are the stamps of the lion pasant guardant, the soverigns Head duty mark and the makers mark, H[...]. The button is 23.6mm in diameter, 0.8mm thick, weighs 3.30g and is slightly bent. The makers mark is not fully clear and there is no clear office mark which might help narrow the possibilities. Treasure case 2017 T483: disclaimed, offered as donation to the museum Description: An incomplete silver button of post medieval date. The fragment is made of a thin sheet of silver, probably originally circular but with the surviving fragment being broadly tongue-shaped. The front of the button is decorated in low relief with a crude depiction of a crowned female bust facing forwards within a circular border. Treasure Case 2011 T359: Disclaimed, Returned to Finder Description: Post medieval silver button or possibly cuff link element. The piece is circular with a plain convex domed front with a central raised pimple and a concave back. In the centre of the back is a silver loop, the outer side of which is squashed inwards. The loop is pointed oval in section and appears to have been soldered to the front. Dimensions: It is 14.5mm in diameter, 4.3mm thick including the loop and weighs 0.88 grams.
