Post Medieval French silver 1/16 ecu (5 sols) of Louis XIIII dating to c. AD 1700-1715. Mint unclear.
The coin has been pierced at 1 o'clock on the obverse, 5 o'clock on the reverse with a circular hole drilled from the obverse near the edge. Tt is bent over so the obverse is convex and the reverse concave; the current diameter is therefore less than that of the original coin.

Post Medieval halfgroat of the Commonwealth dating to the period AD 1649 - 1660. Mint of London. North (1991:206) no.2728.
The coin has been pierced by drilling from both sides. The circular hole goes through nearer the centre than the edge at 9 o'clock on obverse abnd 6 o'clock on th reverse. The coin has also been bent twise to give an S-shaped profile. Coins bent in this way are often called 'love tokens' but are probably more general good luck charms.
