Treasure Case 2011 T458: Disclaimed Description: A silver thimble. The thimble has fairly straight sides, a slight domed top and a distinct carination between the sides and top. The sides are decorated with three incised lines above the rim, creating two narrow bands around the base with a wider band in between. There is a circular hole at one point within this wider band, 1.5mm in diameter. Treasure case: 2016 T1059: Disclaimed, returned to finder. Description: A silver domed thimble of two-piece construction. The thimble has a crack down one side where the two ends of the strip of silver that forms the lower, ring shaped section, were connected. There is also a circular hole near the rim at the back, presumably to allow it to be suspended. The top and sides are decorated with regularly spaced small circular indents arranged in rows on the sides and a grid on the top. Description: A sheet silver thimble made in two pieces, dating from the c. late 17th-early 18th century AD. The thimble has a high domed top and originally slightly sloping sides, now squashed in places. The top was made separately from the body and they were soldered together, this solder has now cracked, and they were detached when found. Treasure case: 2012 T134, disclaimed, returned to finder. Description: Silver thimble, split down the side and at several points around the rim and bent open with the top missing. The outer side is covered in multiple rows of small, closely spaced indented sub-square pits a part from a band by the base. This design is known as waffle-shaped and may indicate it was made on a lathe. On the band are incised two horizontal lines with a motto between them: BE YT + AS x GOD . WYLS cx, in Roman capitals. The top is decorated with two recessed rings encircling an unrecessed crown enclosed by a recessed outer border with raised foliate decoration. The sides have a plain band top and bottom. The central part is decorated with regular rows of indented squares with a raised grid between them creating a 'waffle' pattern.
