Treasure case 2012 T49: Acquired by the Museum of Somerset. Date: c.1500-1600 AD Description: Silver double-ended sharp hooked clasp with a squashed openwork filigree bead in the centre. The clasp is formed if a single piece of silver wire with both ends narrowing to sharp points. The central part of the wire is straight and both hooks bent over 180 degrees on the same plane so laid flat the points were parallel to the main wire and pointed at each other. One point has been bent open so now curves through c.120 degrees with damage on the inner side at the bend. The ends are both…

The main plate is shaped into a fleur de lis with convex fronts to each petal and a concave back. The two outer petals curve back so the points rejoin the base. A post medieval silver gilt decorative top from a hook and eye fastener dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1700. The top is circular, domed on the front and concave on the back. The front is decorated with a five petalled flower design formed of a central raised boss encircled by five larger bosses. The bosses are domed on the front and concave on the back of the piece. Treasure Case 2015 T218: Disclaimed, returned to finder A complete post medieval silver-gilt eye piece from a hook and eye fastener. The body of the piece is broadly heart shaped with one sewing loop each side of the point, and a larger loop in the centre at the top where the hook from the other part of the fastener would have been inserted. The disc is flat with a front decorated with a branch coming in from the base to the centre, possibly laurel, with two side leaves or branches, and a multi leaved terminal. The branch is surrounded by incised areas so it appears raised and details of the leaves are again picked out by incisions. Treasure case 2016 T1061: Disclaiemd, returned to finder. Description: A fragment of a probably Post Medieval dress accessory of uncertain form made of silver wire. The fragment consists of a triangular pierce broken and distorted along one edge but seemingly complete on the other two sides. The back of the object is made of silver wire laid in a grid with interwoven strands like a net. The edge is marked by a V shaped piece of plain silver wire soldered on the front with a line of twisted wire outside this. Filling most of the centre of the V on the front are seven rings of spiral…
