Post Medieval silver sixpence of William III (1694-1702), dated 1697 on coin, minted at London. Opposing sides of the coin have been bent to give it an S shape in profile, coins modified in this way, especially those worn smooth are thought to be love tokens. The bends have been straightened but it is not clear if this was contemporary or more recent.

The coin is very worn and may have been deliberately smoothed. This example has been partly flattened again and possibly therefore returned to the general money supply.
