The top is decorated with two recessed rings encircling an unrecessed crown enclosed by a recessed outer border with raised foliate decoration. The sides have a plain band top and bottom. The central part is decorated with regular rows of indented squares with a raised grid between them creating a 'waffle' pattern. Description: A post medieval silver gilt finger ring. The band is ovular with a D-shaped cross section. The outer surface exhibits a moulded design of a series of projecting pellets. The pellets are surrounded by a border of two interweaving ridged bands which pass alternately over and under each pellet, crossing in the gap between each pellet. One edge of the coin has been bent up and the other down to create an S-shaped profile, one edge was then straightened. Coins modified in this way are often referred to as 'love tokens'. Although as it has been straightened this coin could also have been returned to the general money supply.
