A post-medieval square copper-alloy coin weight from Antwerp (Netherlands) for an English gold half angel, dating after the middle of the 16th century. The obverse shows the standard design for the angel coin of St Michael slaying the dragon; the reverse an upright hand with fingers spread and the letters 'R' and 'I' to either side, and a 'V' is possibly visible beneath the hand, providing the maker's initials. Silver, clipping (probably) from a shilling of Charles I (1625-49), i.m.: sun (1645-6), mint: Tower under Parliament. It is possible that the clipping came from a halfcrown rather than a shilling but on the basis of the evidence a shilling appeared more likely.
