An incomplete post-medieval figurative mount in the shape of an acorn with integral pointed lugs (AD c.1600-c.1700), missing its stalk and the tips of its lugs. Overall, the mount measures 22.7mm long, 12.8mm wide and 5.2mm thick. It weighs 2.17g. The cupule has cross-hatched diagonal lines, while the nut is plain. The mount appears to have been completely gilded on the front as several patches of gilding survive. It has a slightly hollowed reverse. Similar examples of this type of mount can be seen in Read, 2001, p. 29 and p. 37, Fig. 22, nos 331-333.

The object is flat and appears to have been oval in shape, though fragments are missing. The more intact end has a short stump projecting from it which may have originally formed a loop, or knop containing a rivet hole. There may have been a similar piece on the other end, but too much is missing from that end to be sure. The front of the object is decorated with an engraved 6-pointed star with a hexagon of 7…

An incomplete copper alloy probably post-medieval (AD c.1540-c.1900) probable mount or fitting. Overall, the object measures 31.1mm long, 22.4mm wide and 6.5mm thick. It weighs 6.75g. The object is formed from a symmetrical piece of sheet copper alloy (0.9mm thick) that has been bent in half. Unfolded, the object would be formed from a long broadly rectangular strip with two semi-circular lobes along each long side. Each lobe is slightly concave on the outer surface and convex on the inner surface. There are four piercings along the centre of the central rectangular strip which presum…

These three sections are divided by two raised transverse ridges. The central section is convex on the reverse. The mount is similar in shape to Read, 2001, Metal Artefacts of Antiquity, p.28, no.307, but has a separate rivet instead of integral pointed lugs.

A copper-alloy post-medieval hooked mount dating to the 17th century. At the top is a circular roundel (8.25mm wide) with a circular perforation in it (probably for a rivet) and a small knop at the very top. Below this is a collar which connects the knop to the main body of the mount. The main body takes the form of a subcircular plate (25.80mm wide), which extends at the bottom to form a narrow neck with a two ridged collar connecting it to the hook. The hook projects forward at a 45-degree angle and then curves backwards and then towards the top of the mount so as to form an almost …
