Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy weight of post-medieval date circa (1603-1625). The weight is probably part of a larger group of stacking weights, due to it having a wide and relatively thick raised edge on the upper face. The front face is marked with a series of stamps: these include a crowned I, the dagger or sword of the London Guildhall, and the ewer (coffee pot) of the Worshipful Company of Founders. The crowned I dates this weight to the reign of James I (1603-1625). At the centre of the front face the weight has a circular indentation which is where the maker would have shaved the weight to…

A Post-Medieval silver coin, possibly a threepence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) or a groat of Mary (1553-4) . The coin is highly polished and exceptionally worn, therefore it is not possible to distinguish the legend on either the obverse or reverse. The coin has been clipped, and it also appears that the quadrants on the reverse have been incised after the coin was polished.
