A Post Medieval copper alloy jetton. The jetton was struck in Nuremburg by Hans Krauwinkel, master from 10th December 1608 to 4th September 1612 and is of the 1589 series of Franco-allegorical jettons. Obverse: Europa riding bull right across the waters of the river Ravi; HK in exergue. Inscription: EVROPA RAVIAE. Reverse: Venus accompanied by Pallas and Juno. Inscription: PALLAS IVNO VENVS Mitchiner (1988) illustrates a similar jetton (p.454, no.1612). A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy Lion of Saint Mark Nuremberg jetton of Hans Krauwinckel I, master 1562-1586. Possibly attributed to Hans Krauwinckel I (AD 1562-1586) although this example could be attributed to Damianus Krauwinckel or Hans Schultes II, as suggested by Mitchiner (1988). Obverse: S MARCVS EVANGELLIST GOTT; 'Lion of Saint Mark' standing left, nimbate with both wings shown, holding the book of gospels between fore-paws. A Post Medieval copper alloy French jetton dating to (AD 1497-1521). Probable Shield of France modern bearing three lis. Reverse type: simple cross patty with 'V' in each angle. Obverse and reverse with fictitious legend. Due to corrosion on the jetton this identification is believed to be most fitting. These jettons were struck under the period of Louis XII (AD 1497 - 1515) and the early years of Francis (AD 1515-1547). Reference: Mitchiner (1988) 717

A Post Medieval copper alloy Jetton, struck in Nuremberg. The reverse face shoes an orb. Almost all detail has been lost and identification of merchant / moneyer cannot be achieved. A Post-Medieval copper alloy Nuremburg jetton - either a Hans Krauwinkel I (1562-1586) or Hans Krauwinkel II (1586-1635). The jetton is heavily worn and corroded so that most of the inscription is lost. The design on the obverse consists of three crowns alternated with three lis arranged around a central rose. The majority of the legend is lost apart from the letters ... ECR NVR.... The reverse design is an Imperial orb surmounted by cross patty within a tressure with three main arches.
