A cast lead alloy weight dating from the Medieval to the Post-Medieval period, probably dating to circa (AD 1100-1700). The object is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section. The object differs slightly in thickness as it has been crudely made. The upper face is slightly convex and the underside is flat. There are two circular perforations located at either end of the weight. The perforations have hour glass profiles. The weight is broadly conical in profile with a sub-circular base and sides which taper to a rounded point. The weight leans slightly to one side. The base of the weight has a rim around the circumference of the base. The base of the weight is flat. It is possible the weight has a central perforation however this has now filled with soil. Three lead alloy shot / balls, of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600-1800AD). The two larger shots are probably from a carbine and the smallest from a pistol. All of the shots are sub spherical in shape and some show evidence of casting seams from the moulds. The two largest probable carbine balls have a rough surface so have probably been fired. A cast lead alloy shot / ball for use in a Carbine of post medieval date circa (AD1600-1800). The shot is spherical with an uneven surface suggesting that it has been fired. There are a number of scars visible, one of which may be the sprue scar. The casting seam is not visible. The shot is a cream to light brown colour. Similar shots have been dated to the later Post Medieval period however the date range should extend into the early modern period as similar projectiles were used in firearms throughout this period. A Lead or lead alloy inkwell of probable post medieval date (1600-1800). The inkwell is broadly sub-circular in both plan. In the centre of the upper part of the inkwell a circular funnel projects that has a sub circular pierced hole which would have acted as a mouth through which the ink could be accessed and toped up. An incomplete uniface lead alloy cloth seal probably dating to the Post Medieval period, circa 1600-1800. The seal is sub-circular in plan. The seal would have possibly have comprised of 2 disks and a connecting strip which are now missing the back disc due to old breaks. The front face is decorated with a possible crown, portcullis or a 'W'. It is difficult to confirm due to corrosion. The surfaces of the seal are worn with a fairly even dark brown coloured patina. An incomplete lead alloy cloth seal probably dating to the Post Medieval period, circa 1500-1700. The seal comprises of two disks, of unequal size, and a connecting strip which is partially missing. The front face is decorated with the letters 'A' and 'S'. Saunders (2001) suggests that these initials may be the mark of a weaver/clothier as opposed to royal initials when there is no crown.
