An incomplete cast copper alloy finial or knop from a baluster type spoon, of Post Medieval dating (1500 to 1600 AD). The finial or knop is hexagonal in section, and irregular in plan. It would have fitted onto a hexagonal sectioned handle. The finial consists of a fluted base, which narrows to a thin collar and a blunt rounded knop. It measures 21.43mm in length, 12.96mm wide and 13.66mm thick. It weighs 8.8 grams. The knop is a mid to dark green colour with an even surface patina. Spoons with a Baluster style knop or finials are typically of 16th Century dating.
