The hoard contains a total of 332 counterfeit coins, comprising 14 ‘half-crowns’, 268 ‘shillings’ and 50 ‘sixpences’, giving a total face value of £16 and 8 shillings. A copper alloy square shaped coin weight dating to the Post Medieval period, circa AD 1550-1600. The coin weight was issued in Antwerp as represented by the hand on the reverse.  Obverse: Standing figure (probably a saint or maid) with a possible spear or crozier (crook) in left hand. The button has a domed circular head, with a central pellet surrounded by a five pointed start, within a curvilinear border. The back of the head is flat with a prominent casting line. The loop is missing. The button has a diameter of 15.3 mm. The head is 4.7 mm thick. It weighs 4.0 g. The button is a light grey colour, with an even surface patina.
