It consists of a hollow tube, with a break at the bottom, extending upwards into a terminal of two (originally three) plumed feathers, with a collar or ribbon at the base.  It measures 45.0 mm in length, 16.0 mm wide and 6.8 mm thick. A complete lead or lead alloy probable lid for a small vessel or similar artefact, probably of Post Medieval dating (AD 1700 to AD 1900). The lid is conical in shape, with a circular hole at the top. This has an internal diameter of 11.0 mm. A triangular shaped vertical handle is present at the opposite side to the rectangular hinge. Two attachment lugs are still present, with an iron axis bar between them. The inside is concave with a lip at the base. It is 21.5 mm wide, 30.9 mm thick and 10.1 mm tall. It weighs 7.47 g. The lid is a mid grey colour, with an even surface patina.

Along the length of the body, are longituditual ridges, with possible zig zag decoration between them. It has a length of 19.5 mm, is 11.3 mm wide and 8.6 mm thick. It weighs 11.7 g. The artefact is a mid grey colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement while within the plough soil, has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.
