A bodysherd/fragment of a wheelthrown salt glazed ceramic vessel. The sherd is 8.25mm thick and weighs 34.8g. It is 68.02mm long and 45.62mm wide. The internal diameter of the sherd is 7cm wide. The sherd consists of a neck fragment, most likely from a jug, in a light grey stoneware fabric. The exterior surface is a dark brown mottled colour with a salt glaze (orange peel glaze) with either an embossed or applied face decoration. The wig curler fragment measures 38.14mm length, maximum diameter 14.58mm, minimum diameter 10.24mm, weight 8.3g. It is cylindrical in form, demonstrating a bulbous circular end, with the end flattened. Approximately 50% of the wig curler is present. No makers marks are present.

Several different types are present including local glazed Earthenwares (16th to 18th Centuries), imported German stonewares (16th to 17th Centuries), Slipware (17th to 18th Centuries), Mottled Brown glazed ware (18th Century), Cisterian type wares (16th to 17th Centuries) and Flowerpot type Earthenwares (18th to 19th Centuries). The majority of the fragments are miscellaneous fragments, most likely from bricks; however there are a couple of roofing tile fragments and field drain. The majority of the fragments are probably Post Medieval in dating, 16th to 18th Centuries AD. It is probable that there are some fragments of Roman Ceramic Building Material types present.
The fragments vary in thickness from 14.41mm to 25.77mm. In total they weigh 1339 grams.
