It is shield shaped, with two integral attachment spikes on the reverse. The shield-shaped part is flat with convex side edges. CHECK GRID REF! An incomplete copper alloy mount of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1800). The mount is roughly arrow shaped with a central tang, and curved wings with barbs to either side. Each barb terminates with a rounded pellet. There is a central raised ridge which continues into the tang, which expands slightly. The wings are decorated with a curvi-linear line. No decoration, other than iregular scratches is present on the front. On the bar, situated at either end, are two integral circular sectioned incomplete rivets. The rivets have a diameter of 4.7 mm.
