Object type: HAMMERSTONE
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Spherical flint nodule, c.770mm in diameter. The cortex has a crazed appearance and is chipped. In two places large areas of a chipped light brown flint beneath the cortex can be seen.
Although a natural flint nodule, the wear suggests it may have been used as a Prehistoric hammerstone.

Large flint flake, 110mm long and 39mm at its widest point. Most of the flake is flat (max 11mm thick) but it is circular in section at one end and broken, so an odd circular fossil is visible. The circular section is surrounded in coretex. Coretx covers approx.25% of the flake.
