Large flint flake, 110mm long and 39mm at its widest point. Most of the flake is flat (max 11mm thick) but it is circular in section at one end and broken, so an odd circular fossil is visible. The circular section is surrounded in coretex. Coretx covers approx.25% of the flake. The flat part of the flake is smooth on one side and curving - presumably the result of a strike, and the flake above it being lifted off. It has a milky-white patination. Spherical flint nodule, c.770mm in diameter. The cortex has a crazed appearance and is chipped. In two places large areas of a chipped light brown flint beneath the cortex can be seen. Although a natural flint nodule, the wear suggests it may have been used as a Prehistoric hammerstone.

Lower Palaeolithic greensand chert probably Acheulian handaxe, water worn and with a natural (roundish) flake scar on one face. It measures 156mm in length, is max.92.41mm wide and max.43.14mm thick. It is tear-drop-shaped and there is some probable (old) damage at the pointed end. With much thanks to Martin Green and Ciorstaidh Hayward Trevarthen for identification. Martin Green comments, 'It has had a hard life'.
