A Neolithic or Bronze Age sub circular white flint 'pot lid' with cortex over the entire dorsal (natural) surface, and spots of iron staining on the ventral face. Modified to perform as a scraper by flaking, and retouching, along the entire edge. The straight edge has been created by a one large removal and then retouched. Probably Neolithic or Bronze Age (c3500 to c800 BC) but impossible to date accurately. Modified natural 'pot lids' would have made an expedient 'quick fix' tool in an emergency. The retouches on this one suggest it was kept for further use.
