Two long flakes have been removed from the dorsal face. There is a small amount of semi-abrupt, long, parallel retouch along the proximal end and abrupt, short, scaled retouch continuing from here along the left edge. There is a small amount of retouch along the other edges, but this is coarse and sporadic. The flint is light brown in colour with a milky patina in places, which the retouch …

It is sub-ovoid in shape and roughly sub-triangular in cross-section. Object type: CORE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Small complete flint multi-platform core. The flint is dark brown-grey in colour, with occasional lighter speckles in places and a glossy patina. Pebble cortex remains covering a few of the surfaces. Only a few large flaking scars can be seen, suggesting that the core was not extensively worked. It is probably of Neolithic to early Bronze Age in date, 3500-1500 BC.

A complete flint end scraper, using a secondary flake. The tool is sub-rectangular in shape and fairly thin. It has two inward curving ridges running down the centre of the dorsal face. The butt is quite wide and thin and covered in a small layer of whitish pebble cortex. A small chip has removed the bulb of percussion on the ventral face. Possibly a small amount of retouch can be seen on both sides, which have created slight inward curves. A small amount of abrupt, long, sub-parallel retouch can also be seen on the fairly straight edge of the distal end. The flint is mid grey-brown i…

A flint side scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Secondary flake with a small amount of cortex remaining at the distal end. The proximal end comes to a rounded point, the sides then curve outwards and slightly inwards again to the broader distal end. There are two longitudinal flaking scars on the dorsal face, either side of a central ridge. Semi-abrupt, long, sub-parallel retouch can be seen along the right edge of the dorsal face and low angle, to semi-abrupt, short, sub-parallel retouch in places along the left edge, although this is obscured by later rolling. A flint Y-shaped tool of early Neolithic date. A tertiary flake, probably struck with a soft hammer. The tool is sub-trapezoidal in cross-section, with a longitudinal ridge to either side of the dorsal face, the one to the left slightly higher. Both sides are fairly straight and slope inwards toward the rounded distal end. The proximal end is concave, giving the object a 'Y' shape. There is extensive semi-abrupt, long, scaled retouch along the left edge of the dorsal face, with a small amount of further retouch along the right edge of the ventral face. Along the right edge of the dors…

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Flint arrowhead of late Neolithic date. Tertiary flake struck using a hard hammer. Trapezoidal in shape. Invasive, stepped retouch on the dorsal face, with a narrow tranchet flake removed from the distal end of the dorsal face, creating a sharp, chisel-like cutting edge. The narrow proximal end would have been hafted, with the broad edge as the arrow tip. The arrowhead is narrow and fairly crude. The flint is light grey in colour with a milky patina and some orange staining.

A flint scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. It is a secondary flake with a small amount of hard, white cortex remaining to one side. It is sub-rectangular in shape and sub-triangular in cross-section. The flint is opaque grey and very poor quality, which would not have been ideal for working. There is very crude semi-abrupt, long, scaled retouch along the right edge of the dorsal face. The distal end of the dorsal face has a few removals creating a sharp edge and causing it to curve inwards with a spur to the left that may have been a deliberate and functional feat…

Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint end (or thumbnail) scraper. A tertiary flake produced using a hard hammer. Semi-circular in shape. Semi-abrupt to low angle, short, sub-parallel retouch has been applied in a very regular strip along the left edge, distal end and upper right edge of the dorsal face. The proximal end is concave, with the convex bulb on the opposite, ventral side, together providing a firm grip for the thumb when in use. The flint is light grey in colour with a slightly speckled, milky patina.

Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint end scraper. A tertiary flake struck with a fairly soft hammer. Sub-circular in shape and fairly flat. There are a few wide flaking scars on the dorsal face. Abrupt to semi, abrupt, short, subparallel retouch extends almost around the entire circumference of the dorsal face, with only a small gap at the proximal end.
