Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint side and end scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Formed from a tertiary flake. The bulb of percussion is small and prominent suggesting that it was struck with a hard hammer. The scraper is sub-rectangular in form with a small amount of crude abrupt retouch on each side so that they curve inwards slightly and on the end so that it curves outwards. The flint is dark grey in colour with a shiny patina. Length: 26.0mm, width: 20.0mm, thickness: 10.0mm, weight: 6.35g

A flint side and end scrape of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Formed from a secondary flake - hard pebble cortex remains on 50% of the dorsal face. There is a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral face suggesting that it was struck with a hard hammer. Invasive, sub-parallel retouch along the left side and distal end of the dorsal face, mostly low angle, becoming semi-abrupt in the middle. The flint is light brown in colour with a shiny patina. The bulb of percussion has been removed via several small flakes on the ventral face. There are three long, thin flaking scars on the dorsal face. There is a small amount of crude, semi-abrupt, long, scaled retouch on the right side of the dorsal face around the proximal end. The flint is light brown-grey in colour with a shiny patina. Two long flakes have been removed from the dorsal face. There is a small amount of semi-abrupt, long, parallel retouch along the proximal end and abrupt, short, scaled retouch continuing from here along the left edge. There is a small amount of retouch along the other edges, but this is coarse and sporadic. The flint is light brown in colour with a milky patina in places, which the retouch …

It is sub-ovoid in shape and roughly sub-triangular in cross-section. Several rough flakes have been removed from the proximal end of the dorsal face, possibly deliberately to help secure the object when in use. There is a small amount of semi-abrupt, long, sub-parallel retouch along the right side of the dorsal face, with some abrupt, short, scaled retouch along the end. A further small notch has been removed from the centre of…
