Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age notched flake. It is formed from a small, squat tertiary flake. A small amount of informal, crude retouch has created a shallow notch to either side. The butt is narrow and the bulb of percussion prominant. The flint is brown-grey in colour and of poor quality.

Record ID: SF-9149A0
Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Two fragments of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age debitage. One is a long, pointed, secondary flake with cortex still covering the left side of the dorsal face. The other is a small, semi-circular, secondary flake with some cortex on the dorsal face. Neither shows any clear evidence of retouch, but both have significantly rolled edges, scratched surfaces and crazing in places from being in plough soil. Both are grey-brown in colour with some milky patination (heavier on the smaller).

A fragment of Neolithic to early Bronze Age flintworking debris. It is a broad squat secondary flake with cortex still covering the distal end. The butt is relatively narrow and the bulb of percussion prominant. There is no obvious evidence of additional retouch. The flint is poor in quality - dark grey in colour with much lighter patchers.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Two fragments of flintworking debitage of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Both are secondary flakes. One has invasive scaled retouch in places on both faces and several abrupt breaks at the proximal end, suggesting that it may have splinted off a larger worked object. There is potentially a small amount of informal retouch along the right side of the dorsal face, but this is more likely to be rolling from plough soil. This fragment has a shiny patina whereas the other is more matt.

A fragment of flintworking debitage of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. A tertiary flake with a narrow butt and prominant bulb of percussion. Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint scraper. It has been formed on a naturally occuring roughly circular 'pot lid' flake formed as a result of frost damage with a bulb in the very centre of its ventral face. Dark pebble cortex still covers the dorsal face. There is scaled and sub-parallel, semi-invasive, low-angle retouch around c.45% of the edge of the dorsal face and perhaps a small amount of further retouch in places around the remainder. The flint is dark gray in colour with lighter patched and a slight patina.

A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint scraper/notched flake. It is formed on a narrow, roughly triangular tertiary flake. A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint awl/scraper/notched flake. It is formed on a long, narrow secondary flake, which still has cortex covering the left side of the dorsal face. A short, blunt point has been created below the left side of the distal end via a small amount of scaled, short, low-angle retouch, a deep notch and a few long, thin removals on its dorsal surface. There is also a small amount of long, semi-abrupt, sub-parallel retouch along the right side of the dorsal face and a probably deliberate deep notch in its centre. The tool may therefore have had a variety…

A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint scraper/notched flake. It is formed on a roughly rectangular shaped secondary flake, which still has a very small amount of cortex on the right side of the dorsal face. There is fine, sub-parallel, abrupt retouch along the left edge and a deep notch at the distal end creating a blunt point behind it, which may be due to post-deposition damage. It has a broad butt and very large bulb of percussion. The flint is light brown in colour with a glossy patina.

A complete Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint side scraper or borer. It is formed on a small, broad secondary flake, which still has cortex covering most of the dorsal face.
