Record ID: SF-BD71F1
Object type: AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Essex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of a Neolithic flaked and polished axe. It is sub-triangular in shape and oval in cross-section with an abrupt break across the wider end. Both faces are covered with invasive, scaled retouch and a small amount of polishing is visible on one face between the scars. There are small patches of irregular retouch around the break on both faces, suggesting that the object may have been reworked for reuse following damage. The flint is a reddish-brown colour with little patination.
