An early Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead, kite shaped (after Green, Butler p123). The arrowhead is very fine and has been bifacially retouched. There is a small notch in one side which has also been retouched, suggested the damamge was caused during the production process and is not post-depositional damage. One end of the arrowhead has broken off and this is probably post-depositional damage. This arrowhead measures 23.95mm long, 13.62mm wide and is 3.48mm thick. It weighs 1.1gms.

A small quartzite hammerstone, roughly round in shape with two distinct impact points and several smaller areas of impact. The outer cortex has been battered and has flaked to reveal the inner grey-blue stone. Hammerstones are hard to date on their own, but this artefact is part of a small assemblage of late Mesolithic / Neolithic flint tools so probably dates from this period. The hammerstone measures 39.78mm in diameter and weighs 77.6gms.

A frgament from a Neolithic polished flint axehead dating from c.4000-2100 BC. Polished axes are very labour intensive and are thought to have held high value during this period. Polished axes were traded throughout Britain and Western Europe. In this example only the tip survives. The flint is covered in thick white patina suggesting a chalk downland source. It measures 43.79mm long, 42.43mm wide and is 22.84mm thick. It weighs 39.8 gms.

Six (6) core fragments or spent cores. Four are covered with a thick white patina over a grey core, while one other has a thin white patina coverage of c. 50% over a grey-blue flint. All are probably late Mesolithic to Neolithic in date, and they have a combined weight of 57.2gms. These lithics were found in association with other artefacts of a similar date. As with the majority of the assemblage, the grey-blue core and white cortex suggests a chalk downland flint source.

A saw blade with serrated edges made on a secondary flake. There is a negative flake scar on the dorsal surface at the proximal end, and a hinge fracture at the distal end. The saw appears to have broken at the distal end. The raw material has a thin bluish-white patina and covers a grey-brown core. The flint probably derives from chalk downlands, the closest source being towards the Ridgeway in the southeast. The saw is 54.27mm in length, 21.4mm wide and 6.4mm thick. A collection of forty-eight (48) core rejuvination flakes of various sizes, dating to the Neolithic period. The majority show surface removals, but none have been retouched for use as either formal or non-formal tools.
