A flint flake, with limited retouch. Likely dated to the Neolithic or Bronze Age (c. 4000-801 BC). Short abrupt scaled retouch along right edge of both ventral and dorsal edge, about half way down flake. Percussion scarring is present but very diffuse, possibly indicating use of a soft hammer during orignal flaking. White patina over most of flake save for retouch and breaks. Measurements: 47.3mm long, 22.14mm wide and 7.43mm thick. Weighs 5.25g

A lithic implement, possibly a borer dating from between the Neolithic and the early Bronze Age. The implement is irregular in shape, but has roughly three sides and is pointed at the top and bulbous at the bottom. It has cortex over much of the bottom which is mottled white and brown, the flint itself is dark grey blending to light brown on the two most worked sides and light brown and patinated on the third, least worked side. The borer has been flaked into shape with no clear bulb of percussion, short scaled semi-abrupt retouch along the point of the object. Measurements: 81.73m…

Its side view it is roughly pointed oval. In plan, the butt end is much narrower than the cutting edge. It has been knapped overall. The flint is med grey at the blade end fading to light grey along the adze and has off-white and creamy mottling along its length, some of which is cortex forming. The cutting edge is realtively fine, with minimal damage. The edge has been created using parralel retouch stri…

The second is a leaf-shaped tertiary flake of very light transparent flint with some dark-grey to grey flecks within its matrix. A Neolithic knapped flint adze, dating to between (3500 BC - 2100 BC) The adze is ovoid in plan with a a lozenge cross section which becomes more rounded towards the butt. It has parallel sides, a slightly rounded butt and an angular almost riangular blade. The surface of the adze is covered in removals with scars and some impact ripples present where flakes were removed from the surface; it is possible there may be more recent damage, particularly at the butt end, but it is difficult to tell to what degree. The flaking is covering, moslty stepped (and some sparse scaled) and is angle…

Clear bulb of percussion visible on the ventral face with few subtle ripple marks (conchoidal fracture) radiating form it, likely due to a soft hammer strike. The bulb of percussion is clear and just below the striking platform on the ventral face with very clear ripples down the ventral face due to the striking, both thest features on a clear uncortexed piece of flint suggest hard hammer striking indicative of later prehistoric flint technologies. The fragment is sub-rectangular in shape with three rounded sides which have been heavily retouched on the dorsal side to shape it and begin to create good edges. The retouch is predominantly on the dorsal face and is covering sub-parallel scaled at a low angle. Some varied low angle flaking is present on the ventral side but is not consistant. A rounded flint scraper of uncertain date, likely Late Neolithic to early Bronze Age (c.3300BC - 1000BC). The scraper is irregularly ovoid, with wide unworked faces on the ventral and dorsal side. The bulb of percussion and dish left by the preperation striking removal of a large flake on the dorsal face are very pronounced which suggest hard hammer technology, usually associated with flint technology after the middle of the Neolthic. Roughly half ot the edge, centering on the end of the distal end has short, scaled semi-abrupt retouch. The rest of the edge up to the very small flat s…

A near complete flint borer of late Neolithic-Early Bronze age date (c. 3300 BC - 1000 BC). The borer is sub triangular in shape with extensive short scaled low angle retouch along the mesal (sides), which comes in from both the ventral and dorsal facings to create a curved point which has snapped off in antiquity. The flaking and retouch has created a crescent shape which has left a serrated internal curve on the right side (of the ventral face), perhaps suggesting the object had either a duel use as both scraper and borer or the point snapped and it was reworked as a scraper or s…
