A stone Neolithic Langdale axehead roughout (c.2,500-c.2,100 BC). This is an unfinished stone axehead. The roughout shows knapped edges and it is roughly axe-shaped, but it was never completed. The upper and lower sides are still bulbous and the surface is rough with no sign of polishing. The chopping half is 99mm wide but the other end tapers towards the butt which measures c.50mm. The middle part of the axe measures c.66mm thick and tapers gradually towards each end. It has an asymmetric cross-section, with one face more triangular and the other more curved.
