An incomplete Modern solid lead alloy toy horse (1890-c. 1920). The mounted rider, the tail and the lower part of each leg is missing. The horse's right leg is raised giving the impression that it is in a trotting posture. The head is turned to its right but it may have been bent into this position. There is an ornate saddle with a saddle flap, a shabraque, a blanket roll to the rear of the saddle and a belly girth. A complete Modern base metal and coated copy of a 'sixpence' of Charles I (1625-1649), 1900-2000. This coin copies the silver shillings minted at Pontefract during 1648 and 1649, the so-called 'siege' pieces. Sixpences were never minted at Pontefract, but were at Scarborough in 1644-5 and Newark in 1646. However, these latter types are square or diamond-shaped in profile, not disc-shaped as in this case.
