An almost complete cast lead seal matrix of Modern date (c. AD 1850 - c. AD 1920). Diameter 46.8mm, thickness 5.0mm. Weight 53.53g. The seal was used to impress a trader's name and a weight in pounds. It is circular in plan and small portions of the edges are missing due to modern breaks. At the centre, within an indented circle (diameter 28.5mm), is the weight marked in pounds (lb). However, this area has an old scuff mark which has obliterated the numeral. An incomplete cast-in-one lead alloy unidentified object of probable Modern date. Post AD 1800. Length 25.6mm, width 22.3mm and 4.5mm thick. Weight 4.79g. The object is in the form of an eight-spoked wheel, the rim of which has an outer diameter of 21.6mm. One of the spokes projects out 5.7mm from the periphery of the rim. The other spokes probably projected from the rim as well. However, these are missing due to old breaks and just the stubs of each have survived. The ferrule consists of a gold band with separate narrow gold sleeves fitted over each edge. The band is divided circumferentially into three zones. An incomplete Modern tin-alloy whistle (c. 1800-c. 1900). It is sub-triangular in plan and is in the form of the rear part of a fish's body. The head of the fish, the mouth-piece, is missing. Originally it would have been hollow. However, it is now flattened and slightly misshapen. Both sides are scaled with a dorsal fin at the top and an anal fin at the bottom. The tail is in the form of a caudal fin. At the opposite end there is a plain border on both faces, 3.9mm in width. 31.7 x 17.1 x 4.2mm. Weight: 5.49g. A similar incomplete whistle has been recorded from Berkshire: SUR-BEBF41.
