The badge has the emblem of Manchester on the front of it, the worker bee, which symbolised Manchester as the hive of activity during the 19th century, when industry within the city was at its height. Modern pierced white metal commemorative medallion. The borough of Colne had this medallion struck in celebration of the anticipated coronation of Edward VII on 26 June 1902. The coronation of Edward VII and his wife Alexandra, actually took place at Westminster Abbey on 9 August 1902.
