A complete tin or tin alloy modern button. The outer face has a crude Roman bust in the centre with the inscription 'NULLUS GERMANICUS NAVIGAT SOLO' around the outside, separated from one another by a pellet inner circle. The reverse is undecorated with an attachment loop in the centre. A similar medallion has been recorded on the PAS database from South Yorkshire (NLM-AB8443) and the following comment from Paul Cannon is recorded in the description: 'I wonder if the inscriptions on this piece start at 10 o'clock and read, (beginning with a pronounced pellet) ".
