An incomplete silver modern cap badge for the 48th Northamptonshire Regiment, dating to between AD 1881 and 1918. It is an oval shape with openwork decoration consisting of a castle with a key in the centre, the words Gibraltar above and Talavera below and encircled by a laurel wreath with Northamptonshire on a banner below. To the reverse there is a separate silver wire rim, partially detached. A Modern silver dress hook. Treasure Case 2009 T560. Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, Department of Prehistory and Europe, British Museum, provided the following report: Silver(?) heart-shaped hook with impressed design of a flower and two holes for attachment. Design and facture indicate a modern date, probably early 20th Century.
