An incomplete copper alloy button of early modern date. The button bears the words 'RAILWAY POLICE' above and below the letter 'E & G'. This button is probably from the uniform of a member of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway Police, which were operational in 1847 until they were absorbed by the North British Railway in 1865. Why this button should be so far from home is unknown. The reverse of the button bears the slogan 'EXTRA SUPERFINE : BEST QUALITY'. A copper alloy link pin for a chain probably of modern (post-industrialisation) date. The link pin is cylinder shaped with two widened head terminals at either end, one of which is now mishapen. The barrel of the link pin is smooth but there are two indentations visible possibly as a result of use. A modern (c. AD 1800-2010) flint scraper made on an ancient flake of uncertain prehistoric date. The scraper is broadly circular in plan with part of the platform and the buld retained. There is some re-cortication, through which the modern retouching is cut. The modern retouching is at the proximal tip and around the distal edge. It is possible that a farm worker (for example) may have created and used this scraper in Victorian (or even more modern) times. It has a face value of 5 shillings. A complete but bent copper alloy commemorative mount dating to the 19th century. The mount has two rectangular fields, slightly curved, one above the other, with the upper most field smaller than the lower one. The upper field bears the word WATERLOO, the lower field PENINSULA. Therefore this mount appears commemorate the British success of the Peninsula War (AD 1808-1814) culminating with the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The mount may have been attached to a military company's plaque. Suggested date AD 1815-1900.

A hollow silver bead, now distorted, probably dating to the modern period. The bead is broadly spherical and decorated with filigree panels in the shap of flower petals. One of these cells retains a red paste or enamel, another green. The majority of the surface of the bead is covered in the remains of a white paste. A probable modern fake of a penny of Edward the Confessor, Winchester mint. The coin appears to be imitating a hammer cross type (AD 1059-1062) although there is no annulet in the quarters of the cross as is usual for this series. The obverse inscription reads 'EADHARRD REX', crowned bust with sceptre right. The reverse reads 'ELFPINNE ON PINC'. The coin is of a very tinny white metal, and is of the correct weight and diameter however there is little wear and no tarnishing and the metal does not look or feel right for silver of this period.

A disc-shaped copper alloy trade weight, probably for a half-ounce. The weight has three punch marks around a central circle, inside an upturned rim. The marks are the Royal Cypher of Victoria (comprising a crown over V), a quartered shield indicating the Guildhall and a ewer. These idicate that the weight is a London trade weight post-dating 1837, but pre-dating 1878 when the cypher changed to 'VR'. 13.3 grmas, or 0.47 oz.

A copper alloy post-medieval or early modern counterstamped halfpenny of George III, dating to between AD 1800-1820. The coin has been counterstamped on the obverse, with 'ROBINSON, CULTER, OXFORD'. Internet research suggests that a cutler called James Robinson traded from 46 Cornmarket, from AD 1830, with (assumingly) his son John trading from 44 Cornmarket after James' death and until AD 1847. The coin was already worn when it was counterstamped, and with a new king and / or queen on the throne, using an old coin was not defacing the current coinage.

A cast iron decorative fitting in the form of a two-dimensional lion's head with mane, probably dating from the 19th century. The reverse of the lion is curved and the iron is stepped, which would have resulted in the central vertical panel being lower than the opposing two sides. The central panel has a large screw hole towards the base; on the front side of the fitting this screw hole is counter-sunk. An incomplete cast copper alloy (bell metal) bell, retaining its copper alloy clapper and chain. The bell is open-ended, with the rim flaring outwards slightly and being decorated with a single line around this rim; the upper portion of the bell tapers and has a roughly flat top, from which protrudes a tall rounded top loop for suspension. There are file marks evident on this loop but there is no other marking or decoration on the bell. This style of bell was used to adorn horse harnesses and cart trappings and dates from the 19th to early 20th century.

An incomplete lead alloy toy gun of which only the stock survives. The lower portion of the stock has scrolled floral designs on either side while the upper stock, which protrudes from a mouth-like moulding, is decorated with cross hatching. Toy guns were popular from the late 17th century and some examples even fired. This is a late example and dates from c. AD 1850- 1900.

A debased silver figurine of Christ on the cross. The figurine is well made and in great detail; the face, crown of Thorns, torso and other musculature is well defined. There are nail holes (rivet holes) through each hand and the feet, which would have attached the figure to a wooden cross. The reverse of the figurine is equally well sculptured, but has a hollow opening in the back, probably intended to hold a vial of holy water. An incomplete cast lead alloy pencil sharpener of mdern (19th century) date. The sharpener is formed from a pyrimidal-shaped sheet of lead which is decoirated on one side only in the lower half; the decoration consists of two lines of bordered zig-zags seperated by a plain field between the two; the pencil sharpener consists of the outer casing only. A number of pencil sharpeners have been recorded on this database and they all share a similar date of c. AD 1850-1900.
