Description: Silver 'snake' ring consisting of a triple spiral of metal of lenticular section which terminates at one end in a flattened, sub-triangular snake head and at the other with a twisted and narrowing tail. The head is detailed with grooves and the body by a pair of crudely traced lines that follow the edge of the metal; the area between the lines is infilled with short parallel lines, rather roughly executed, to give the impression of scales. Measurements: 23mm external diameter; 16.8mm internal diameter; 4.80 grams. Discussion: although 'snake' rings are relativel…

A riveted iron handle from a modern tin bath. Dished U-sectioned strip of metal, bent into a sub-semi-circular shape. At each end are slightly outward-pointing terminals, both broken but potentially leaf-shaped, with holes for rivets. The attachment terminals are broken but comprises loops bent slightly outwards. Whilst a somewhat similar vessel mount comes from Dragonby (Manning & McDonald, 1996, fig. 11.38, 73), this example strongly resemble the handles of tin baths, even down to their bent crescent-shaped sections, and is therefore likely to be modern. The hanger is 92mm wide, 65m…
