Incomplete post-Medieval gold posy ring with significant damage, now in the form of a strip rather than hoop of metal. The band is of shallow d-shaped profile. The ring appears to have been cut at the point of commencement of the inscription, which is subsequently intact. This reads – in Italic script – Let loue. Last (where the L of let takes an extended form and last is written with a long or medial s). There is no mark, and no other obviously diagnostic evidence. Discussion: The text ‘Let love last’ has not yet been found, but several examples of the sentiment

A silver signet finger-ring. The hoop expands to form a heart-shaped bezel. The face of the bezel is lightly etched with the initials "WRC" in faux-Gothic characters running from the upper-left to the lower right; the letters are made from minute hatches. Small flourishes of hatching lend a decorative, floral effect. Opposite the bezel, the hoop is flattened, perhaps intentionally. Dimensions: Length: 20.62mm Thickness: 2.05mm Width of bezel: 15.48mm Weight: 8.52g

The Hackney Hoard The 80 coins are all gold 20-dollar pieces (so-called 'double eagles') of the United States, issued between 1854 and 1913. The coins are thus all the same denomination, introduced in this form in 1850, and were struck to the same standard, 90% gold, used from 1837 until the end of US gold coinage in 1933. The catalogue shows that the coins gradually increase in number across the decades from 1870 to 1909 (13 coins from 1870-9; 14 from 1880-89; 18 from 1890-99; and 25 from 1900-9). Over a quarter of the total were issued in the last 6 six years represented. Toget…

A large gold finger ring inscribed on the inside and engraved with foliate decoration alternating with geometric design to the exterior. The inscription (with very slight traces of black enamel) to the inside may read 'Suis de partyer', thus translating to 'I am to leave', in which case this could be a momento mori. The floral designs to the outside face are keyed, in preparation for enamelling. This ring appears to be 18th or 19th century and is therefore not classed as Treasure.
