Copper alloy insole. A sheet metal plate of nearly straight-sided form with rounded ends, and retaining the marks from the heads [5.5mm diameter ] of two small nails on either side at one end, probably the heel. The finder kindly suggests this may be an insole from a work boot. The form is indeed comparable to that of work boot soles going back to medieval times. As the finder's suggestion is informed by family experience [as this reporter understands it] a modern date is suggested.
Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1930.

Possibly copper alloy.
Button. A round slightly concavo-convex button with drawn copper alloy wire attachment loop on reverse; now coated in black slightly tarry material. The button front bears a central motif of bow entwined with quiver, with another object beside them. It is presumed this may relate to one of the archery clubs founded in the course of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Existing clubs in the area, who are celebrating the last 50 years of sporting archery, have been contacted about this find; the motif is not known to them. Suggested date: Modern, 1820-1900.
