A fragment of a white metal unidentified incomplete object of post-1912 date. This artefact has been looked at by National Finds Advisor Helen Geake & Judy Rudoe, Curator of the Modern Collections at the Department of Prehistory & Europe, British Museum but it has not been possible to determine what this fragment was a part of. This fragment is made of sheet white metal which has been curved to form a cylinder, the ends of which now overlap. It is probable that the ends originally butted together and now overlap as a result of this artefact having become squashed out of shape. Thi…

This artefact has been looked at by National Finds Advisor Helen Geake & Judy Rudoe, Curator of the Modern Collections at the Department of Prehistory & Europe, British Museum. Following discussion the object is thought to be a possible decorative cover for a button, or possibly a cap, perhaps for a walking stick. A copper-alloy shot flask, in two parts, of the first half of the 19th century. The flask is made of sheet copper-alloy that has been machine punched to add a decorative design of hung game. The design comprises of a rabbit or hare hung by its feet from a chain loop and four fowl, probably pheasant or partridge, with foliage at the base of the flask. The technique of machine punching starts in the 19th century and the use of shot flasks ended towards the middle of the same century allowing a relatively short date range for the artefact to be determined. The flask has a globular or pea…

A copper-alloy multifoil, flat fleuret mount with single stud or tack of modern date. The mount has a central domed pellet that has a diameter of 5.34mm. It is unclear whether the stud/tack is integral or not. If the stud/tack is not integral it would seem likely that this central detail is the rivet like head and that the shank passes through the rest of the mount to the reverse. The tapering shank has a rectangular cross-section and measures 2.79mm x 1.73mm. The upper surface of the mount is decorated with twelve petals each formed and boarded by raised ridges 0.96mm.
