A complete flint pick of Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date (c. 6500 BC – c. 2900 BC). Length 161.3mm, maximum width 61.3mm and maximum thickness 43.2mm. Weight 410.0g. This pick, like other similar implements found in the Isle of Wight, is characteristically hump-backed. In plan, from the centre, the width generally narrows towards the butt and widens towards the cutting edge. It is sub-triangular in cross-section forming three main faces. A complete Late Mesolithic to early Neolithic pick (c. 6500 BC c. 2900 BC).The pick, made from an elongated flint nodule, is largely trapezoidal in cross-section. However the butt end is semi-circular in cross-section. It has been crudely flaked and is 'waisted' at the centre. In side view it is 'hog-backed'. In plan, the cutting edge is slightly pointed (almost semi-circular) and its side view is 'V'-shaped. The upper face of the butt end is battered and has been used as a hammer. An incomplete Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic retouched tertiary blade. It has a transverse break at the distal end. The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion with a percussion scar and associated waves. The dorsal surface has arrises from previous removals. These are quite sharp. One longer edge of the dorsal surface has been retouched. These removals are a generally parallel and semi-abrupt. The flint is a light greyish/pale brown colour. It is probable that the object is an implement and may have been used as a side scraper. 29.1 x 17.4 x 4.6mm. Weight: 2.81g.

Two complete Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic flint blades. These blades are not retouched. The larger flint is secondary and the smaller flint is tertiary. Measurements: Large blade: 76.5 x 23.6 x 7.3mm. Weight: 15.92g. Small blade: 52.2 x 13.6 x 3.7mm. Weight: 3.13g. Both blades have a shiny buff patina and the large blade is also partly stained a deep purplish brown. These are surface finds within the inter-tidal zone.
