An incomplete Mesolithic (probably) flint blade (c. 10000 BC-c. 4001 BC). The proximal end of this tertiary blade has been lost due to a transverse break. Consequently, the bulb of percussion is not present. The dorsal face has three longitudinal removals. A flake scar on the ventral face appears to be recent damage. This translucent blade is off-white, light grey and orange. Length: 20.8mm; width: 9.1mm; thickness: 1.8mm. Weight: 0.47g.

A Mesolithic to Early Neolithic flint blade (10000 BC-3501 BC). This tertiary blade is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross-section. The dorsal face is divided longitudinally by a single median arris. Removals around the edge of the dorsal face have been interpreted as damage rather than retouch. The ventral face has undulating ripples but no bulb of percussion and it is possible that the proximal end has been truncated. The blade has a shiny greyish black patina overall. It was found on the surface within the inter-tidal zone. Length: 55.2mm: width: 17.8mm: th…

A complete Mesolithic flint blade (10000 BC-4001 BC) The blade is broadly rectangular in plan, triangular in cross-section and has no cortex. The dorsal face has four flake removal scars divided by sharp and prominent arrises. The ventral face has no bulb of percussion but does have diffuse ripples. There may be a small length of retouch on the proximal end of the ventral face. However, this may be damage. The proximal end is not in the form of a striking platform and appears to have been battered. The flint is mid-grey overall and translucent around the edges. It has off-white …
