Flaked axe of Mesolithic date. The item is sub-rectangular in shape with a rounded cutting edge. It is bifacial, having been worked extensively across both faces, with a small portion of cortex remining in the centre of the axe on once face. Both faces feature fracture patterns suggestive of hard hammer technique, with multiple removals being hinged or stepped, suggesting indelicate work.
