An irregular flint end-scraper of uncertain date, possibly of Mesolithic to Bronze Age date (c.9000-1000 BC). Description: The scraper is irregular shaped, with one rounded end and one pointed shouleder end. It is formed from a secondary flake with some beige cortex remaining at the pointed end. The flaking along both facing edges, the bulb of percussion and conchoidal scarring (rippling) on the ventral face is very pronounced which suggest hard hammer technology. The majority of the edges have short, scaled semi-abrupt retouch struck from the dorsal and ventral faces. the pointed…

A Mesolithic to early Bronze-Age button/thumb-nail scraper, Description: The scraper is small and rounded in plan. It is made from a tertiary flake with poor flaking. The scraper edge is formed from invasive scaled semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch around most of the edge save for the striking platform. The dorsal face has varied flaking from previous removals and forming of the scraping edge. The bulb of percussion is quite shallow despite having quite substantial conchoidal rippling. The flint is a very dark grey colour. Measurements: 27.56mm long, 28.11mm wide, 8.85mm thick and …

A incomplete perforated stone, possibly quartzite object of Mesolithic or Neolithic date, c.9000-c.2200BC. Description: The mace head is oval in plan and has a central perforation from one side to the other. This perforation is the typical hour glass shape. The surface of the mace has been polished and is very smooth to the touch. The object has fractured and left a rough section on side covering roughly a third of that side. Much of the circumference of the mace is worn and abraded and looks to have been caused by use rather than by post-depositional wear. The stone is a dark red-bro…

A long flint flake likely utilised as a blade of Mesolithic to early Neolithic date, c.9000BC - BC3300 Description: The flake is formed from a long tertiary flake, which has snapped off at the distal end and is roughly rectangular in plan and slightly curved. The bulb of percussion is very subtle and little conchoidal rippling can be seen. This would suggest soft hammer technology and a Mesolithic to early-Neolithic date. Measurements :53.89mm long, 19.32mm wide, 6.27mm thick and 6.23g in weight.

In cross-section the fabricator is triangular. Rtouch on all faces is very crude and inconsistant but clearly defined being short to invasive scaled semi-abrupt. Description:The scraper is formed from an irregular rectangular shaped secondary flake, slightly wider at the distal end. There is retouch along parts of the side edges which appears to be blunting the tool or creating a small simple scraping edge and this retouch has been flaked from the dorsal face and can be described as short scaled semi-abrupt. An uncertain incomplete lithic tool made from a secondary waste flake, of Mesolithic to Neolithic Date c. 9000 - 2200 BC. Description: The flake is irregularly shaped with very short scaled abrupt crushing retouch on the right diagonal edge of the ventral face. This retouch was intended to blunt the edge. There is a probable break at the top of the tool which makes the full tool type uncertain. The crushing may indicate the object is in fact a fragment of a backed blade. The microlith is triangular in cross-section, with the dorsal face being the convex side. A flint core for the production of early mesolithic mircoliths, c.9000-8000BC. The core is roughly conical, the primary striking platform has been removed by a large curved rejuvination flake on the top. The understand also has a large flake removed it is uncertain if this is rejuvination or inital core preperation. Striking has left only subtle conchoidal fractures, whcih indicates use of soft hammer technology. The flint is heavily patinated white colour with some patches of blue white, there is some more recent accidental damage which reveals the internal flint to be a dark grey…

An incomplete possible flint pebble hammer of Mesolithic to early-Neolithic date, c.9000-3300 BC. The hammer head survives as roughly half the original object creating an irregular C shape, the body of the hammer is D-shape in cross-section. The perforation, when complete, would have been an even hourglass shape rather than cylindrical (which differentiate this object type from 'Mace Heads'). There is substantial flaking on the outside which may relate to shaping the object although may also relate to its use, for example at the thinnest part of the head has irregular and rough flakin…
