Proximal end of a thin knapped flint blade with a large, deliberate notch, probably a precursor to being snapped to form a microlith of Mesolithic date, 9000-4000 BC. The piece has a very small bulb of percussion on the ventral face and two parallel aris running down the length of the dorsal face from previous parallel removals. The right edge (as seen from the dorsal face) is notched about half way along with abrupt retouch worked from the ventral face, the retouch extends towards the proximal end. The opposite edge has regularly spaced small chips from the distal face giving a serra…

The proximal end of a very small knapped flint tertiary blade retouched into a microlith of Mesolithic date. Clear bulb of percussion on the ventral face and platform at the proximal end. It is triangular with a central aris running down the centre of the dorsal face; this and ripple marks suggest previous parallel removals from the same platform. The distal end appears to have been shaped by retouch into a slight point. There is short, parallel, semi-abrupt retouch down the left edge (seen from the dorsal face) worked from the ventral face, becoming longer towards the distal end. It…

Long triangular microlith formed from part of a blade dating to the Mesolithic period (8300-3500 BC). The microlith is formed from part of the central section of the blade. There is one remaining parallel aris running down the length and it is curved in profile. One long edge is the original edge of the blade the other is formed from scalar abrupt retouch, it has a trapezoid cross section. The end opposite the point is a more recent break suggesting it was originally longer. The flint was originally mid grey as shown in the break but is now covered in a deep white patina. It is 19.1mm…

Three small fragments of flint blades with retouched edges. 1. Proximal end of a knapped flint tertiary blade. Bulb of percussion, bulb scars and ripples on the ventral face. It is triangular in section with a central ridge on the dorsal face. The right edge (looking from the ventral face) has been retouched with short, scalar, semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch from the dorsal face. Retouched snap at the distal end. There appears to be the start of a deliberate retouched notch for snapping the blade in the centre of the left edge before it thickens around the bulb. Dark grey translucent…

Probably a Mesolithic microlith: short length of snapped blade with retouch. The snap at the proximal end is straight while the distal end and right edge (seen from the dorsal face) have snapped all the way down, leaving only a short length of the dorsal end. There is short, abrupt retouch down the distal half of the left edge on the dorsal face. The flint is translucent dark-grey with paler mottling. It measures 18.4mm long, 12.1mm wide by 3.6mm thick and weighs 0.70g.

Small piece with evidence for notching and breaking of a longer blade or flake, possibly suggesting attempts to make microliths. The piece is the distal end of a seondary blade or flake with percussion ripples on the ventral face and cortex across the angled distal end on the dorsal face. The dorsal face has long parallel arises suggesting previous blade removals from the same core. The right half of the break at the proximal end is a concave curve with short abrupt retouch suggesting it was broken across a notch. There is a further retouched notch near the distal end of the left edge…

Probable Microlith of later Mesolithic date. The piece has a sharp triangular point with an irregular, accidental, break at the wide end. The piece is made from the centre of a tertiary blade with the point towards the proximal end and a broken distal end. The dorsal face is highly arched with evidence for previous removals. There is short, scalar to sub-parallel abrupt to semi-abrupt retouch around the tip of the point and down both sides as far as the break. The flint is dark grey with paler mottling. It is 23.2mm long, 11.3mm wide and 3.6mm thick; it weighs 1.08.

Six flint microliths, formed from parts of blades or bladelets with retouch and dating to the Mesolithic period (8300-3500 BC). Total weight: 2.80 grams. Small triangular microlith made from a section of a blade in pale grey flint. Probably the broken tip of a larger piece it has a snap at one end and long, scalar retouch on the dorsal face along the other two sides, which meet in a sharp point. On the left the retouch is abrupt, on the right semi-abrupt. It is 9.7mm long, 4.9mm wide and 2.1mm thick, it weighs 0.10 grams. Long thin piece taken from the side of a blade, possibly part…

Greensand chert microlith, formed from part of a blade or bladelet and dating to the Mesolithic period (8,300 to 3,500 BC). There is cortex covering c.10 of the surface at the distal end and the edges have short, scalar abrupt retouch down their entire lengths on the dorsal face apart from the proximal end of the right edge which appears unretouched. The proximal end and bulb of percussion have been removed. It is 21.5mm long, 7.3mm wide and 2.4mm thick and weighs 0.45 grams. It is pale brown-green chert.
