Found at the same findspot as record: HESH-37B6DD Three tertiary blades / debitage of late Mesolithic or transitional Neolithic date (4500 -3000 BC). All three blades are snapped and although the bulbs of percussion are lost on the ventral faces they show distinct conchoidal fractures. The dorsal faces all show vertical scars from flake removals and they all have lentoid / crested cross sections. There is no secondary working or retouch present on any of the blades; they are all knapped from mid grey coloured flint which has a thick white patina. The blades measure: 17.4mm …

A snapped flint piece of tertiary debitage / blade of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000BC). The blade is rectangular in plan and has a crested cross section. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face and the blade has been snapped near the mid-point; the break is old and patinated. The dorsal face has a series of parallel distinct flakes scars present and the two long edges show some evidence of reworking - specifically a crescent shaped notch at the mid-point of the blade with distinct short parallel crossed abrupt retouch. The flint is a mid-grey c…

The striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face and the blade has been snapped near the mid-point; the break is old and patinated. The two long edges show some evidence of reworking - although this mostly seems to be unorganised direct retouch - there is also some possibility that this retouch could be caused by movement in the soil. The flint is a mid-grey colour with a milky white coloured patina. …

Lithic implement in the form of a notched flint blade of earlyMesolithic date (9000 -8000BC) or early Neolithic (4000-.3300) date The blade is rectangular in plan and has a crested cross section. The blade has been struck from a prepared core in it's tertiary phase of working. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face. Both long edges have been reworked - the right hand edge has a large notch which has been formed through retouch that can be best described as being short stepped and abrupt. Directly opposite this notch on the right hand edge on the v…

Lithic implement in the form of a blade of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000BC). The blade is formed on a course grained flint - possibly chert - and is rectangular in plan and has a crested cross section. It is from the third / tertiary phase of knapping. The blade has been struck from a prepared core; the striking platform and bulb of percussion are present on the ventral face. The opposite end is snapped - possibly recently as a result of movement in the soil. There is hard hammer direct retouch along one edge making a crude serrated cutting and scraping surface. The blade is a pal…

There is no evidence of retouch or reworking to form a tool. There is no evidence of multi-directional working - therefore suggesting a blade / core technology prevalent in the later Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. The flint is a mottled mid grey colou…
