A snapped flint blade of later Mesolithic date (4000 -3000BC). The blade is irregular in shape with a rounded distal end and broken terminal at the proximal end. The dorsal face has a small area of cortex present. The striking platform and bulb of percussion are lost through snapping at the distal end. The ventral face has evidence of two flakes being removed. Both faces have short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt re-touch. It is likely that this blade was used as a scraping and cutting tool. A probable knapped flint denticulate produced from a secondary flake. The dorsal surface has four slender vertical scars with an obliquely angled distal end, this end is covered with heavy patination. The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion, bulbar scars, and concentric ripples. One lateral edge has fine denticulates which have been re-touched from the dorsal surface. The flint is a dark orange colour. The knife measures 49.33mm long, 21.48mm wide and 5.4mm thick. It weighs 6.1g.
