Copper alloy and textile strap end. A pair of plates or a single plate folded lengthways with an ogival outer end and a rivet hole of diameter 1.6mm at its inner end, which was probably engrailed. A further rivet at the front end was only noted during image processing. Woven fabric, now of a buff tint, remains trapped between the plates. This might point to a later medieval date within the available range as sumptuary laws enacted following the Black Death, particularly the Statute of 1369, restricted the wearing of leather straps by the lesser sort. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 1400-1500. The piece consists of a broadly lozengiform terminal, the front face of which carries incised foliate decoration, and a crescentic plate. The piece would have been formed of two crescentic plates joined together, although only the front plate now survives. Projecting from the reverse are two circular rivets. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy spacer from a composite strap end datomg to circa AD 1270-1500. Rectangular-sectioned, the spacer is forked with two pointed prongs emerging from an openwork oval plate which terminatesl in an acordn shaped knop. Only one fork now survives. It tapers gently into a point. The other has broken away.
Similar examples are depicted in Egan and Pritchard 2002: pg 141, pl 92.

An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy composite circular strap-end dating to c.1250-1450.
Consisting of two separate sub-circular plates with projecting rectangular attachment arms that terminate in breaks. Riveted together with two rivets that remain in place on either side of the plate. Decoration on one attachment arm with what appears to be a double scribed letter V. The surface displays an even green patina.
Plate diameter 17.9mm, o/a length 25.3mm, thickness 2mm, weight 3.6g.

A complete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating circa AD 1200-1400. A one piece strap end, it is broadly trapezoidal in plan tapering from its widest extent at the attachment end into the terminal. Projecting from the terminal edge is a triangular knop. The plate has a split end and is undecorated on either face. Two rivet holes positioned centrally at the terminal and attachment end, remain in sity.
Similar examples are depicted in Egan and Pritchard 2002: pg 144.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy strap end dating to circa AD 1200-1400. Part of a composite strap end, the piece comprised of one plate. It is rectangular in plan with a shield shaped terminal from which projects an incomplete trefoil or triangular knop. Now heavily abraded and scarred, an intact separately made copper alloy rivet is positioned centrally towards the attachment end.
Similar examples are recorded in Egan and Pritchard 2002: 125-161.

A complete medieval cast copper alloy strap end with openwork plates on both sides; one with a quatrefoil and one with an elongated heart shaped cutaway. The sides are comprised of a separate strip of metal, giving the strap end a hollow interior. The front end is rounded and the rear end is scalloped. There are three rivets holding the object together, two at the rear and one at the front.

A complete medieval copper alloy composite strap end. One whole plate, one partial plate and the spacer are retained; the plates are rectangular with a rounded terminal with a small projection. The spacer fills the front half of the object and is secured with a single rivet; the rear end is incomplete but had a decorative circular cutaway at the centre, with rivets to either side, one of which is retained. There is no decoration. Circa 14th-15th century.

An incomplete copper alloy Strap End of Medieval date (AD 1300-1450). The object is one plate from a composite strap end, which is rectangular in shape with an upper circular perforation, the lower end terminates in an old, abraded transverse break. The front of the object is decorated with an incised with a geometric motif composed of an outer linear boarder, within which are repeating triple lined chevrons on each side, with a double central line dividing. An incomplete and badly corroded medieval strap end. Only one plate remains, this is fragmentary and incomplete. It has a rounded terminal and a narrow, tapering sub rectangular plate with a decorative trefoil rear end and a single rivet hole at the centre of the rear end retaining a copper alloy rivet. The facing side has an incised zoomorphic motif with a lion's head contained in the rounded terminal, this has details of a lenticular eye and the outline of open jaws still visible although most of the detail is lost to corrosion. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy composite strap end dating to circa AD 1200-1400. The strap end is small and worn. At one end is a pointed terminal. It terminates at the other end in an old break immediately after a median in situ, separately, made copper alloy rivet joining two plates together. One plate is decorated immediately after the rivet with incised triangular grooves running along the vertical axis. It is likely the piece would have been much longer, the design more elaborate, and a second rivet present at the now missing attachment end.

A fragment of a copper alloy strap end or buckle plate or clasp plate, dating from the Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1400. It is a sub-rectangular plate, tapering towards one end. The narrow end is slightly curved, perhaps where the strap end was folded widthways. If the plate is from a strap clasp, the bend could be where it was folded round the frame.
