TREASURE CASE 2019 T16. Description: An incomplete gold finger ring of late medieval or early post-medieval (15th - early 16th century) date. The finger ring has a D-shaped cross section and is plain internally. There is some damage to one side of the ring over part of the inscription which was probably caused by the plough. Externally the finger ring is decorated with two elongated oval cartouches which contain black letter script flanked by floral tendrils and cross-fleuretty motifs. A complete but worn copper alloy jetton piedfort of the Tournai three circles type dating to C AD 1497-1521. The legend on the obverse is mostly illegible but the last word appears to be MARIA. The reverse depicts a broad ended cross patty with a flower in each angle. A complete but worn copper alloy mount of medieval date. The mount is bar-shaped in plan with pointed terminals displaying worn zoomorphic features possibly indended to be birds' heads with downward curved beaks and bulbous eyes. In the centre of the mount is a raised boss with a square aperture. The underside of the mount is hollow. This may be one of several fittings, no direct comparision could be easily identified, it could be a knife quillion or a strap/harness/furniture fitting. Suggested date AD 1100-1400.

A complete copper alloy and enamel heraldic horse harness pendant dating to the 13th or 14th century AD. The pendant is shield-shaped in plan with a suspension loop set perpendicular to the shield. The front of the shield bears an heraldic device, which can be described as barry of twelve or and sable an orle of six martlets gules. An incomplete decorated ceramic floor tile dating to the medieval period. The two-colour effect of the tile was achieved by etching a design into the clay base then filling these voids with a white clay. An incomplete and flattened Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy domed ('beehive') closed thimble (c. AD 1400-1550). This thimble would have been circular in plan and the thick walls taper inwards from the base towards the crown. There is a plain rim and no manufacturing marks. The outer face has a line of evenly spaced sub-circular pits which spiral in a clockwise direction from the base to the top. The crown has concentric rings of similar pits.
