Description: Medieval gold finger ring.
The ring is made from a rectangular strip of gold, now squashed out of shape, the two ends folded over each other at almost equal intervals along its length so that it is now a third of its length. One end narrows at one side to a pointed terminal. This terminal is softly rounded and bent slightly as if to be the beginning of a hook. The opposite terminal has a transverse break.

A complete gold medieval finger ring with blue/black stone insert (damage to stone). The band of the finger ring is rectangular in cross section with moulded blocks of quatrefoil / saltire decoration separated with rows of raised pellets around the circumference of the loop. Either side of the trapezoidal bezel is lettering that may be an abbreviation of a religious or personal nature; the letters appear to consist of I O L V M [?] (read left to right, top row first). Mid 13th to mid 14th century AD.

A complete gold medieval finger ring with seal intaglio and inscription. The finger ring has a plain oval loop, D-shaped in section (more angular near the bezel) with an oval bezel set within the arms of the hoop. The bezel has a bevelled edge and an blue / black glass (?) intaglio within. Description: A complete Medieval gold finger-ring with gemstone setting (perhaps a sapphire) dating to the period AD 1200-1400.
The hoop is oval shaped in cross-section. It is thickest closest to the bezel (c.3.1mm thick) and thins evenly to a minimum thickness of 1.5mm. The hoop has been warped into a sub-oval shape but would have been circular.

On Saturday 6th April 2019 a scattered coin hoard was found during an organised metal detecting rally on land at Hambleden, near Henley-on-Thames, Buckinghamshire. The Oxfordshire FLO was informed that morning and attended site later the same afternoon. The coins were scattered over an area at least 20 x 20m. An incomplete gold finger ring of late medieval or early post-medieval (15th - early 16th century) date. The finger ring has a D-shaped cross section and is plain internally. TREASURE CASE 2017 T1077. Description: A complete gold finger ring of medieval date. The finger ring consists of now distorted hoop and a projecting trapezoidal bezel. The hoop has a slender D-shaped section. The trapezoidal bezel has a cut pyramidal blue stone (probably a sapphire) set within it and which projects above the level of the bezel. The finger fing has a boxed bezel which is worn away on one side, resulting (probably) in the loss of the decorative stone or glass inset. The bezel is V-shaped in profile. The hoop is made from a simple circular cross-sectioned band which expands slightly at the bezel.
Dimensions: Internal diameter of 18mm, external diameter of 21.1 mm. Thickness 3.1mm. 1.7 grams weight.

In the centre of the front of the matrix is an oval dark green jasper intaglio, intricately engraved to depict a female in profile.
